The Chappeaus THEN and NOW

1995, Beloved college friends. We knew Josh (LEFT), all through our years at Washington U in St. Louis. He was a two year old toddler. Later, Caleb (Middle) and Selah (Right) joined the Chappeaus. Gerry and Sharie were our "parents", while they shared with us the love and vision of our Lord Jesus.

May 2007: Josh is taller than both of us! He's still a cutie pie (but don't tell him that now!) Then, there's Caleb and Selah, two very beautiful teenagers! Man, do we feel old. Then, there's Gerry (the one that doesn't fit), who is the dad to these great kids. Gerry married us, and Sharie, his wife, was Lisa's matron of honor.

This is Sharie, Mom Chappeau, my matron of honor. This was a picture we took in 1999. Sharie looks just the same, so I don't have to update her pic. We LOVE you guys so much!

Walking for LIFE

Hope and I will be walking for life on June 2, Saturday, and New Life Church. We'll be walking about 2 miles to support Crisis Pregnancy Centers. Please pray for Hope and me while we walk. Pray that it will NOT rain and that we will enjoy the fellowship of others who are walking for life. If you are in town or around New Life, please join in!

我要教中文了!

If you can't read the title, then maybe you should take my class that I'm teaching this fall! Then again, you have to be between 5 and 7 years old. See, I've applied to teach Mandarin Chinese at High Country Enrichment Classes. Check out the website at: www.hche.org . It's basically a home school that's gotten so big that teachers and parents who are qualified teach subjects that may be difficult to teach in a home school setting. Or, if parents just want to have their kids in a classroom like setting, they can bring their home schooled kids to HCEC. I thought it would be fun to offer Mandarin to the kiddos!

Let's see if anyone is interested, as registration for classes don't start until August. If no one signs up, then I'll just keep teaching Hope. She'll be in a class all by herself...haha!

By the way, the title translates: I'm going to teach Chinese!

Spirited or Strong Willed?

Hope is taking advantage of our frequent snow storms by eating the snow. It's one of her favorite past times. Yes, to her, snow is food.

Hope is experimenting with Physics by rubbing her fine hair on some polyester material. Do we see a Physicist in our future?

"I'm taking my own plane to see Grandma! See ya later. Hey? Who's this stranger in my backseat? Get out get out!" Hope actually turned back and whapped this girl.

"Ah! The life!" Here, Hope is sticking her hand in the water, even after the lady in charge and us
parentals impelled her not to touch the water. Notice how frightened she looks at being chastised and how she's the only one not listening to instruction. She whapped the girls here as well.

"Toddlers must be Bi-Polar" - P. H.

We have a friend who works with Bi-Polar medication, and he KNOWS bipolar issues in patients. One of the things that people don't tell you is that toddlers can exhibit similar traits of a person with bipolar disease: One minute the person is manic and going a gazillion miles per second. The next minute, the person can be crying in the corner, depressed at life.

This is a good explanation of toddlers, as most parents all over the world have seen their happy-go-lucky child go to screaming mad on the ground faster than the snap of a twig.

We are definitely no exception. Hope has the typical traits of a toddler where she's singing in the rain, laughing at the clouds, skipping on stones. Then, I turn around, and she's on the floor, sobbing that the dark clouds have descended upon her tragic life and given her such cruel and merciless parents because they've asked her to put her Pooh book away.

It's enough to drive parents stark raving mad! I've almost hit that point a few times this week!!!

Good thing she can switch right back to happy as a clam when I offer her a cookie when she's a quiet and happy girl. Would that be considered a bribe?
