Dallas and New Orleans

Saturday morning, we saw Nathan, the kids cousin for 15 minutes before he left for band weekend. He's a busy high schooler now. The rest of the day, we just hung out in Dallas Texas. Such a nice day to rest before our long 8 hour drive to New Orleans, LA the next day.

In New Orleans, we were told to try the coffee and Beignets, so we did. They tasted like heavy donuts, deep fried and blanketed with powdered sugar. What's not to like? It was especially nice dipped in the coffee.

Jackson square, the middle of New Orleans, where the French Quarter was. The day was filled with lots of site seeing. We didn't see a lot of weird people and dark sites. We did enjoy one man blowing his trumpet and singing. We got to explain to Hope what a Voo Doo doll was and how that differs from the blessings of Christ.

The kids are drooling as the men are making homemade pecan pralines. The candies sure were delicious.

The Mississippi River. After seeing this, Hope wanted to eat a Mississippi mud pie.

Famous Roast Beef Poboy at Parasols. If the gravy doesn't ooze off of your elbows, you ain't eatin' it right. 

Firecracker shrimp poboy. Spicy fresh shrimp. Was drooling so much, the picture turned out fuzzy.

The kids were so fascinated about the cemeteries in New Orleans as the tombs are not buried but rather sit on the ground. It's due to the swampiness of the land. Years ago, after the rains, the buried coffins came floating back up, so now, the tombs just stay on top. It was creepy in some ways, but it was fun to read the different inscriptions on the tombs. We can see why they have "haunted" tours of the cemeteries. 

Next Day by Hope (still), otherwise known as September 26, 2014

Today we ate the free breakfast at Days inn. Guess what I ate. I ate Texas!!! Actually I ate a Waffle in the shape of Texas. I thought It was cool. I also ate other things but I don't remember what. Well today Mom and Dad gave me a National Geographic travel book for kids,and Josiah got Two Berenstain bears books (Kitten rescue and Neighbor in need) and a fun pad. I read National Geographic travel book for kids in the car; I think it's fun. I was doing stuff  in the car and I saw a Humongous cross in the far off distance. I asked my Mom what was it and she didn't really answer me she just said "We're going to see it" It was a place called "Grooms' cross"

 I saw the big cross(I had to lift my head high to see it) and statues of Jesus. Then we drove to a place to eat. There was a playground, so after we ate we went to the playground There were a few signs one of them said BEWARE OF SNAKES. That sorta made me not want to go there. I did anyway. 

We only played for like 15 minutes because we were sweating. There were games inside the restrooms. It was like"Do you know The traffic laws?" I tried playing it I don't know how to drive yet so I didn't do well. We got to Uncle Bob's and Aunt Kim's house. I played with cousin Emma (Nathan wasn't there) then we ate dinner. Steak,shrimp and salad and ice cream and cookies for dessert. Me and my brother slept in the storage room. But My brother kept saying things like "Let's have a quiet contest whoever wins gets your helicopter Ready, set go" and jumping on the mat where I was sleeping I couldn't sleep until my mom told Josiah to go somewhere else.

Hope writing, September 25th, Thursday

     Hi my name is Hope and I'm writing because My Mom is tired. So we said Good bye to our house. Then my parents signed something(I have no idea what) Then my parents gave me and my brother a Journal and 'hit the road" ( Don't try to really hit the road It hurts I tried it I have no Idea why.). We went to a volcano in New Mexico (It was a dead one) and I got a Junior ranger badge after doing the workbook thing.  We arrived at days inn Amarillo, Tx later. And ate a very late dinner at 8:00 eight something not exactly eight. My mom said me and my brother share a bed and whoever kicks or bothers the other person has to sleep on the couch. Minutes later Josiah kicked me, five minutes later he threw a pillow on me and took all the blankets and the bed sheet. So he got the great opportunity to sleep on the couch(My Dad made him)

Last day in Colorado Springs

So begins our journey to another land. Excited but stressed out. The packers came earlier than expected (Friday, Sept 19) and packed everything up faster than expected. The loaders loaded quickly, leaving us enough time to clean up the house and get everything into place. Can't believe six weeks ago, Paxton got the word that we were moving to Georgia. Can't believe that our first house showing brought the contract. Can't believe the orders came just in time for the moving company to pack and load our stuff.  Our faith remains small, but the Lord continues to show His faithfulness, especially when we asked Him to be obvious about where He wanted us to be in the next few years.

We rest in that.

This table is all that's left of our eating area. It's how we ate four years ago after the movers took our table away when we moved from Colorado Springs to Washington DC. Four years ago, this little girl fit this table just fine. How did she get so big between moves?

See the kennel behind little girl? When the movers took it, Hei Mei barked and was pretty mad that they took it. She didn't like the movers after that. She's still wary that the house is so empty. Yes, even the dog is affected by moves.
